Magical Umbria!!!

The vineyards of the Barberani estate are only a few kilometers away from the beautiful hilltop town of Orvieto, in the province of Umbria in Italy. They are situated on the hills overlooking Lake Corbara, along the Tiber river, right above the road from Orvieto to Todi. This area, known as the “classic” zone, is the oldest and most well known wine-producing land in Orvieto.  During my visit two years ago, Bernardo Barberani showed me his childhood village and the surrounding vineyards where he still calls home.  Dating back to Etruscan times, these vineyards are considered among the best in all of Italy.  This past March, West Palm Wines was proud to have Bernardo, and his brother Niccola here to present thier wines along with matching traditional Umbrian foods prepared by Beaune’s Wine Bar.   The night was so memorable that I just had to write about it.  I always stock the wines from Barberani so if you read something you like, come on in and buy a bottle.  In addition, we do many winemaker dinner’s here at WPW so if you would like more info on these and other great tastings, call me or send me an email.
